In Mrs. Allison’s 7th and 8th Grade Advanced English Language Arts classes at BDS, students learn in a supportive, academically challenging environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Our classroom is structured, collaborative, and student-centered, where respectful discussion, thoughtful analysis, and strong work habits are valued every day.

Students engage with complex texts, participate in meaningful conversations, and complete projects that connect reading and writing to real-world ideas. We focus on building confident readers, skilled writers, and independent thinkers who are prepared for the next level of academic success.

We also believe that growth happens when students feel safe to take academic risks, share their ideas, and learn from one another. Responsibility, perseverance, and pride in one’s work are important parts of our classroom culture, and students are encouraged to set goals, reflect on their progress, and celebrate their achievements throughout the year.
