Helping Hands- Seagie Shoemake's 5th Grade
Mrs. Seagie’s classroom is a safe and creative environment for all types of learners. Students first learn to trust their teacher will handle their unique learning types with great care and respect, allowing each student to see both their successes and failures as essential learning opportunities. This classroom cornerstone builds skills every successful person needs: responsibility, resilience, confidence and independence. Students are authentically celebrated for their unique strengths and differences! They learn to authentically celebrate and nurture the strengths of others as they discover and problem solve through lessons.
Through the engagement of multiple learning modalities, students primarily discover their own learning by becoming curious, noticing patterns, making connections, asking questions and answering questions. This evidenced-based, researched model of teaching makes learning meaningful and engaging, allowing new materials to quickly and effectively absorb. It cultivates a learning environment that turns students into initiators who solve problems creatively.
Mrs. Seagie’s classroom is built around the belief that strong relationships are the primary key to sustaining motivated learners. Genuine discovery and a growing use of self-monitored progress is a close second, followed by high expectations, individualized support and the freedom to safely explore and create.
